Read more about new versions in the feed . Important hints for users of version 2.36 and earlier:

  • Disk images added to the drives won't be imported from the games list of earlier Dapplegrey versions properly. Sorry, you have to re-assign disk image mountings once before running a DOS game again
  • Since there is an un-resolved problem with assigning multiple number of images to a drive, it is recommended to organize the Floppy & CD images within folders per game. When attempting to add multiple Floppy & CD-ROM images to a game entry, open the dialog 'Drives', select 'Disk Images'. Then, simply browse to the folder containing the desired disc images. Dapplegrey will let DOSBox mount all the disc images stored in this folder.
  • If you're using Mac OS X 10.8 Mt. Lion as Operating system, you may have to hold down the 'Ctrl' key before starting Dapplegrey the very first time.

Dapplegrey is a frontend for the Mac OS X DOSBox port (which you can get from the official DOSBox website) written in REALbasic.
If you've already installed DBGL, DBGL can also be used as DOSBox source to run games with Dapplegrey.

Dapplegrey gives you the ability to set options DOSBox provides to the user, but w/o having to enter those options by using the Terminal or even have to edit the DOSBox config file by TextEdit. The config file which will be send to DOSBox will be written to hard disk just before Dapplegrey tells DOSBox to start.

Games included in Dapplegrey:
dosbmjvga
dosbairlift dosbptrooper dosbturbocar
If you see the Spinning Beachball while running DOSBox & Dapplegrey, do the following:
forcequit

If both applications, DOSBox and Dapplegrey, does not respond for a while, go to the Apple Menu and call the window „Force Quit Applications“.

This window can be also opened with Command-Option+Escape. If both applications together are marked with „(not responding)“, so simply force quit DOSBox alone, but not Dapplegrey (select the application DOSBox, click „Force Quit“ or press the return key to confirm this command).

Dapplegrey will be re-animated automatically shortly after force quitting DOSBox.

Dapplegrey may be included in any CD-ROM shareware and freeware disks or mirrored at any download sites.
