Currently I've got a german PC game magazine to my hands which includes some full versions of recent games. By clicking on the DVD menu's 'Installation' button, I planned to install one of the games onto my Virtual PC emulator, but got this message:

Attention! Please install the current game patch. To do so, click 'Update 2.06'.
Well, I thought, do what they want, so I clicked 'Cancel' to perform the requested task instead of this one.
Then, to install the requested updated version, I clicked on the red coloured 'Update 2.06' button just to get another error message:

I've never seen such silly backforwards on the Macintosh.

To hit the point: One month ago I got my eMac, before that time I used Windows, Linux and Unix only. Because I wanted to learn about MacOS from the beginning, I installed it from scratch and my first surprise was the fast and problemless installation (plus applications it tooks 25 minutes). As you touch the Aqua GUI the first time, an experienced user of Windows systems should throw out what he knows about it, he should fly over the MacOS just with intuition. Whether to install applications with an Installer application or install tools just by dragging them onto the Applications folder - it's just simple. All in all, it's just funny to work with MacOS X, so you will feel Windows just as a bad clone of MacOS. With MacOS X you'll get an Unix system including an intiutive GUI which is more efficiently than PC operating systems can be. Well, finally I know both systems now. Long-time user of a PC, the PC itself closed down some day, so my ghost of winandintel follows him. A few days w/o PC at home and no money to buy a new one. Talked to a friend of mine about the need of a new PC and got the answer: 'Well, I could give you the Umax I previously used.' I asked back 'what's that?' so he tell, it's a Mac clone. Um... Arrived at home, connected with power supply and wondered it runs immediately. Played a few days with the MacOS 9 and wondering again, why I didn't used such a system before. Just install applications and just move them to Recycle Bin to uninstall them... No unneccesary DLL files and no registry database which blows up itself all the time... Just enthusiastic. Finally the question of all the questions: Why I've used a PC system for years now, which is non-stable, blowed up with unneccessary functions and as longer it runs, gots slower and slower then? As friend of old computers I'm very happy with my older Macintoshes now. Previously I did not have any computer knowledge. But to start my study, I needed a computer then. I borrowed a PC and a Mac, placed them both side by side on my desktop and turned on both systems... I believe I didn't looked at the PC anymore! The WinSystem didn't convinced me! MacOS 7.1, at that time, was very impressed to me. A few month later (Nov. 1993) I bought a Performa 475 (a.k.a Pizza Box), which I've used until the year 2000, really. Followed by an iMac G3 500 MHz, and now I'm running a PB12"! I just want to say, everyone should place a Mac besides a PC and compare them a few hours! If peoples would do so, then I assume there will be Mac users only all over the world. At least, when deleting files from an USB stick you've to empty the "central located" recycle bin located at the Mac desktop (doesn't mean to re-format it, but should be known anyway, if you're unsure about PC media hardware). ... A very important hint, because this is the main difference between Windows and Mac! On Windows, while deleting files you'll be asked, whether the files should be deleted immediately and completely, because there is no Recycle Bin available to exchangeable PC drives, which stores deleted files first. The Recycle Bin is reserved for Hard Disk Drives only. On the Mac, all writeable drives have their own Recycle Bin, but all of them shows their content with the one located in the Dock. Try this with an empty Recycle Bin in the Dock: If the Recycle Bin of the USB stick contains a few files and you are mounting it, the Recycle Bin located in the Dock becames the "filled" icon. Eject it now, the Recycle Bin becames the "empty" icon again. Information source: http://www.macwelt.de/forum/showthread.php?t=682570 (german)
